How has COVID Affected Children and Teens?
Three School of Education and Social Policy faculty members discussed how the pandemic altered childcare, schooling and mental health during a recent panel hosted by Northwestern's Institute for Policy Research.
Moderated by economist Diane Schanzenbach, the Margaret Walker Alexander Professor of Human Development and Social Policy and director of the Institute for Policy Research, the panel featured Emma Adam, the Edwina S. Tarry Professor of Human Development and Social Policy; Jonathan Guryan, the Lawyer Taylor Professor of Education and Social Policy; and Terri Sabol associate professor of human development and social policy.
"We kept everybody home, and we also kept kids out of school," Guryan said. "I think it's worth going back and thinking now—did we make the right trade off?”
