When situations outside a student's control arise that prevent timely course completion, Northwestern designates two different incomplete grades, X and Y to designate what work is outstanding.
SESP maintains specific policies about the application of a single class toward 2 different requirements or fulfilling a concentration/core and second major/minor requirements), thereby double counting the course.
See the graduation checklist and procedures for the petition to graduate.
