Susan Corwith

  • Director, Center for Talent Development

Biography

Susan Corwith, PhD, is the director of the Center for Talent Development (CTD) at Northwestern University and an assistant professor in the School of Education and Social Policy. Corwith’s expertise is in the fields of gifted education and talent development, with an emphasis on the design, development, and evaluation of academic enrichment and acceleration programs. She has written extensively about high-quality, strengths-based programs and services that foster talent development and authored numerous articles and chapters on gifted programming standards, academic acceleration, and assessment and identification. Corwith is active in state and national advocacy organizations, including the National Association for Gifted Children, where she is on the board of directors and served as the chair of the professional standards committee for the revision of the 2019 programming standards. In addition to her research and work with schools on program design and evaluation, Corwith regularly offers professional learning workshops and has taught courses on program design and talent development in Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy. Her multifaceted role, combined with CTD’s commitment to excellence, allow Corwith to feel as though she is helping to reveal students’ incredible potential, which, she believes, often goes untapped. “It’s exciting to see what students can do and who they really are in an environment that nurtures and supports them,” she says. Corwith holds a PhD in educational leadership and policy analysis, an MS in curriculum and instruction and a BS in secondary education, all from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
