Brayboy To Speak at CNAIR Research Symposium
Bryan Brayboy, Dean of Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy and the Carlos Montezuma Professor, will deliver a keynote for the 7th annual Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR) research symposium
The two-day event, held from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., takes place April 10 and 11 at the Women’s Club of Evanston, 1702 Chicago Ave.
Brayboy (Lumbee) will speak at 9:05 a.m. on Friday after a welcome from Megan Bang, the James E. Johnson Professor of Learning Sciences at the School of Education and Social Policy and director of CNAIR.

The symposium will spotlight research by Indigenous scholars, projects with community partners and poster sessions. Roundtable and panel discussions will address topics including maternal health, economic development and the practice of incorporating Indigenous knowledges and methods across a range of disciplines.
The gathering also will showcase the scholarly work of the Northwestern community and external partners, including Tribal College and University students.
Melissa Walls, (Anishinaabe), co-director of the Center for Indigenous Health and a professor of American health in the department of international health at Johns Hopkins University, will also deliver a keynote address.
The Center for Native American and Indigenous Research was established in 2017 through the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and is Northwestern University’s primary institutional space dedicated to advancing scholarship, teaching, learning and artistic or cultural practices related to Native American and Indigenous communities, priorities, histories and lifeways.
