Hiring a Temporary or Student Employee

The University requires that all non-NU-student employees, even temporary ones, get a background check prior to working. This means that it’s more important than ever to leave as much time as possible before the employee’s start date.

Before hiring a temporary or student employee, you will need to know the following:

Bring that information to Tanya Tovar in 254 Annenberg Hall.

The most important part is that your employee cannot begin work until part one of the I-9 is completed. Part two must be completed within three days of hire.

Please do not engage an employee to do any work (i.e., do not "hire") before seeing the Dean’s Office for information.

See the University’s policy on volunteers and interns before bringing in any unpaid visitors.

It is important to note that a visitor from another country staying for less than 90 days still needs a visa. This will ensure your guest has a Net ID and is also compliant with University policy. Please see Melissa Weidman if you have questions, or to invite someone to campus.
